Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular internet jobs and an affiliate, is a third-party mediator between internet programs and internet surfers. An affiliate can be better described as an internet sales person, as commissions are paid to affiliates when they manage to refer paying customers to the affiliate program which they represent or are promoting. It's an affiliate's job to promote or advertise the program he's a member of, creating public awareness about the program, goods or services which he's selling amongst his family, friends, neighbourhood, community, state, country, continent, worldwide!, depending on how global the program is. This could be done by word of mouth, posters in public places, handbills, social networks, blogs or webpages, internet ads networks and so on. Before registering for any affiliate program, it is advisable to carry out your own personal researches as to whether or not the program suits your needs in terms of payments (both mode of payment and percentage commissions), your personal skill and capacity, the market demand of the product and mediums available with which to promote it. Registering with affiliate networks such as Linkshare, Comissions junction, Shareasale and Clickbank amongst numerous others is a way of sourcing legitimate and paying affiliate programs, or carrying out a personal research via search engines and forum or ranking sites to validate programs which might be of some interest to you.
